Training Officer ATS

As a training officer, you make an important contribution to the organisation by organising, monitoring and supporting training. This includes both practical support (resources) and the deployment of the necessary resources (internal/external instructors). The training officer provides follow-up and advice around various trainings, tailored to the needs of the organisation. This takes into account the various target groups and stakeholders within the organisation, with the aim of offering the most appropriate and effective training courses and thereby implementing the organisation's training and development policy.

What does a skeyes Training Officer ATS do?

  • Plan, initiate and follow up on all tasks involved in organising training sessions. This includes among other things:
    • You translate a training requirement or training content into a concrete planning of all necessary resources. Taking into account constraints related to the availability of instructors, classrooms, and simulators, instructor preferences and availability, a logical structure of the training (learning curve), and legal and regulatory constraints.
    • You send out course announcements.
    • You monitor and report on the budget available for the appointment of these practical instructors.
    • You are responsible for the planning of trainees, among other things in coordination with HR, granting and registering (special) leaves of absence, …
    • You implement and follow up required coordinations in case of changes, both within the Training organisation and with external partners, instructors, HR, OPS, and Workforce management.
    • Under the Senior ATCO programme, you organise the operational aspects (OPS) of the pre-screening, online interview, and practical assessment as soon as new applications are received.
    • You manage all administrative aspects around training for compliance and traceability, including keeping the Learning Management System (LMS) and various databases up to date.
  • Make the required resources available to run these training sessions smoothly. This includes among other things:
    • You draw up the calendar of practical instructors for the courses.
    • You analyse the formulated need for instructors and make proposals for adjustments to optimise the deployment of instructors, taking into account an optimal distribution of leaves and a logical training structure and learning curve.
    • You schedule internal and external instructors in accordance with any contractual provisions.
    • You ensure practical coordination with these instructors or the external supplier of those instructors. You do this meticulously within any contractual framework, predefined deadlines and budgets.
    • You evaluate and check the required qualifications of the instructors.
    • You follow these instructors throughout the duration of the training programme and support and motivate them where necessary.

  • Promote the continuous improvement of training programmes. Seek and implement the best practices to efficiently deliver students with a high level of competence.
  • Be responsible for planning and following up trainees when they fall under the reporting line of the training organisation. This includes among other things:
    • You act as point of contact for all trainees and staff involved in training.
    • You follow up leave periods in coordination with HR.
    • You plan observations in various departments to ensure broad experience and/or coordinate with HR for temporary support within other departments, pending their follow-up training.
  • Be responsible for organising support to the team of Training Officers, including facilitating necessary resources, providing up-to-date information and documentation, and providing administrative assistance to perform their duties efficiently and effectively.

Candidate profile

What makes you the perfect Training Officer ATS?

  • You obtained at least a bachelor degree or equivalent through relevant experience to be presented.
  • You have an understanding of how air traffic controller, ATSEP or pilot training works and knowledge of the related requirements to be met.
  • You have at least 5 years of relevant work experience.
  • The administrative part of the job does not scare you off and you always work meticulously. You naturally always keep aspects such as traceability and compliance in mind.
  • You have strong organisational skills and always manage to maintain a helicopter view.
  • You have a creative mindset and combine this with innovative problem-solving thinking.
  • You are prepared to undergo continuous training in the field of adult learning, coaching, etc.
  • You speak and write English fluently and can express yourself in Dutch or French.
