System Engineer Radar

As skeyes’ Radar systems support engineer you play a crucial role in ensuring aviation safety by providing technical support to the team of specialised technicians in maintaining and optimising the systems within the domain.

What does a System Engineer Radar do at skeyes?

  • You will monitor both corrective and preventive maintenance of radar systems and analyse problems reported by the specialised technicians.
  • You analyse anomalies reported by internal and external customers (e.g.: air traffic controllers) and work out efficient and qualitative solutions.
  • You will be part of a project team and, under the supervision of a project manager, you will participate in the implementation of radar projects. Your professional expertise forms a key role in writing the technical specifications.
  • You will also participate in factory inspections and ensure seamless integration into our air traffic control centre.
  • You always follow up on the existing internal procedures of the regulations imposed on us. You constantly keep track of any essential changes to these.
  • You write documentation (e.g. procedures or reports) and keep it up to date. You also carry out safety studies.
  • You analyse the impact of obstacles and frequencies on our radar systems, formulate recommendations and help develop solutions to reduce the impact where possible.
  • After obtaining certification of your internal training, you will also be responsible for part of the training within the radar department. This includes both drafting syllabi and giving the training.

Candidate profile

What makes you the perfect System Engineer Radar?

  • You have a master's degree in engineering, preferably with a specialisation in ICT and/or electronics.
  • Relevant experience in or a strong affinity with a similar position or industry is an absolute asset.
  • You have knowledge of networks, radio frequency and digital techniques or are willing to learn more about these.
  • You have an analytical mind so that you can analyse problems thoroughly and formulate optimisations.
  • You have strong communication skills and enjoy cross-departmental cooperation.
  • Knowledge of Linux software is a plus.
  • You speak and write English fluently. Knowledge of Dutch or French is an asset.
  • You consider travelling regularly to different radar sites/airports is an added value for this position.
  • You are willing to take turns in ensuring an on-call service (by mobile phone).
