System Engineer Meteo

At skeyes, we ensure safe and efficient aviation in Belgian airspace. We monitor and facilitate communication between air traffic control and aircraft through advanced technical systems. Our teams play a crucial role in ensuring smooth aviation operations.

Our meteorological systems are crucial for collecting, processing and analysing weather data essential for aviation safety. These systems measure various weather parameters such as wind direction, wind speed, visibility, humidity, air pressure and temperature. The data is used to make accurate weather observations by skeyes' internal meteorological service and for safe take-off, flight and landing of aircraft by controllers and pilots.

We are looking for a driven System Engineer Meteo with a passion for technology, weather data and radar. In this versatile role, you will provide support to our system specialists, both in the analysis phase and on the field, and play a crucial role in new projects.

Your responsibilities as System Engineer Meteo:

  • you oversee the corrective and preventive maintenance of meteorological systems and analyse problems reported by our technicians;
  • you initiate improvement proposals, develop them and ensure they are correctly implemented;
  • under the supervision of a project leader and as a member of a project team, you will participate in the implementation of meteorological projects. You will co-write technical specifications where your expertise is key, additionally you will participate in factory inspections and ensure seamless integration into our air traffic control centre;
  • you will follow up existing internal procedures and any changes in regulations imposed on us. (e.g. ISO, EASA, ICAO);
  • drafting and updating technical reports and performing safety studies are part of your daily work;
  • after an in-company training, you will be responsible for part of the training within the MET (maintenance) service, including preparing syllabi and providing training;
  • you will carry out this job in day shift, but you will be part of a mobile phone on-call service on a rotational basis.

Candidate profile

What makes you the perfect System Engineer Meteo?

  • you are an engineer with a specialisation in IT and/or Electronics;
  • you have a healthy interest in meteorological systems and radar technology, combined with a solid knowledge of IT and electronics;
  • you are fluent in English with a good command of French or Dutch;
  • you have strong analytical skills and know how to intervene quickly and appropriately in case of breakdowns and you can formulate improvement proposals;
  • you are a fluent communicator with the necessary empathy and you can work well with other technical specialists and departments;
  • you have a driving licence (B) and your own car, and you are prepared to take part in a mobile phone on-call service on a rotational basis.
