What does a skeyes Network Engineer do?

Together with your colleagues you are responsible for managing the mission of skeyes’ critical operational network and the enterprise campus network. These are both spread across multiple datacentres, data sites, the regional airports and our Headquarters at Brussels Airport.

  • Subject Matter Expert
    You are an expert on all network-related matters. This means you are the go-to-guy for the design of our networks, as well as for the hands-on implementation and the necessary aftercare and support. You provide technical guidance and coaching to team members in your area of expertise.
  • Design, build and support network solutions
    You will design, build and support the current and future network solutions to provide a 24-7 service in the area of routing, switching and firewalling covering our physical and virtual LAN, WAN and WLAN networks.
  • Ensure a qualitative service and an optimally functioning network
    To guarantee this, you will conduct regular corrective actions, system maintenance and improvements. Furthermore, so as to prevent service degradation, you will introduce initiatives so that the network performances and capacity are better followed up and managed. You do that through monitoring, alerting and forecasting for network performance. Moreover you will provide 3rd tier technical support services, fault finding, root cause analysis and problem resolution to existing and future projects.

Candidate profile

What makes you the perfect Network Engineer?

  • You have at least 7 years’ worth of professional experience as Network Engineer within a major IT environment with mission-critical systems and networks.
  • You have strong expertise in CISCO networking systems (routing, switching, network redundancy mechanisms, LAN, WAN, etc..).
  • You have a solid understanding of :
    • overlay/underlay networks (CISCO ACI, VXLan, EVPN) combined with a spine/leaf architecture and the more traditional 3-tier network architecture with core, distribution and access layers.
    • network high-availability concepts 5 clustering, load-balancing, multi-site architectures).
  • You are familiar with Fortinet firewalls.
  • You have experience with network diagnostic tools (Netflow, Wireshark).
  • You are able to quickly analyse and understand complex situations and dependencies.
  • You show strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
  • You work meticulously and rigorously with attention to quality and safety.
  • You communicate fluently in English, you can also express yourself in Dutch or French.
  • As our systems have to remain operational 24/7, we're counting on your flexibility to be occasionally available outside normal working hours, on a rotational basis.
