As Chief Data Officer (CDO), you will drive the strategic use of data to empower decision-making and enhance skeyes' organisational performance. Leading the newly created Corporate Business Intelligence team, you will champion a culture of innovation, collaboration, and data-driven excellence, ensuring skeyes remains agile and competitive in a rapidly evolving landscape.
What does a skeyes CDO do?
As CDO, you will provide transformative leadership to drive the transition to a data-driven culture within skeyes, ensuring operational excellence and strategic decision-making are powered by high-quality and actionable (aviation) data insights. Reporting to the CEO, you will closely work with the COO, CIO, and CSO, driving cross-functional collaboration to embed aviation intelligence and data governance. As the head of the “data insights engine” leading a team of up to 10 direct reports, you will coordinate multidisciplinary teams across various departments, ensure alignment to optimize aviation intelligence data, supporting safe, efficient and data-driven air traffic management.
Aviation Intelligence and Management
- Develop and execute robust & compliant data governance strategies to ensure the quality, integrity, and security of aviation operational data.
- Lead the integration of Aviation Intelligence tools and systems, ensuring availability of critical operational data for real-time flight management and decision-making.
- Standardise data management processes & culture across skeyes in alignment with existing IT frameworks, ensuring compliance with aviation-specific regulations.
- Foster communication and collaboration with external regulators and data providers to ensure compliance, regulatory alignment, and integration of key data into operational strategies.
Strategic use of data
- Drive data-driven processes and follow data trends to enhance operations, overall business performance and inform real-time decision making.
- Drive & foster advanced data analysis to achieve strategic business objectives.
- Deliver actionable insights through dashboards, analytics, and data products & applications to internal customers while respecting departmental operations.
Operational reporting
- Design and oversee the delivery of Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) specific to air traffic control operations, ensuring timely, accurate insights into organisational performance, safety and efficiency.
- Integrate Aviation Intelligence insights into management reporting and delivering reports to the directive committee to align with skeyes' strategic goals.
Process optimisation and business analysis
- Conduct in-depth analyses to identify bottlenecks in processes and workflows and implement data-driven solutions for non-IT processes.
- Collaborate closely with the CSO to integrate these insights into skeyes' strategic planning to ensure process improvement.
Strengthening a data-driven culture
- Foster a culture where data is central to decision-making, operational innovation, and continuous improvement within air traffic management.
- Promote organisation-wide adoption of data-driven approaches by providing training and development opportunities.
- Support departments in embedding and sustaining this mindset.
Candidate profile
What makes you the perfect CDO?
- You have at least 10 years of progressive experience in data management, analytics, or business intelligence, with a minimum of 5 years in a leadership role.
- You hold a Master’s degree in Data Science, Computer Science, Business Analytics, or related fields.
- You have relevant certifications in data management, business intelligence, or analytics (e.g., DAMA, Certified Data Management Professional) are a plus.
- Proven track record of driving data strategies and implementing data governance frameworks in complex, multi-stakeholder environments, demonstrating proficiency in change management.
- You are strong in leadership, communication, and fostering cross-departmental collaboration and embedding data-driven cultures within organisations.
- Knowledge of the aviation or transportation industry is an asset.
- You are familiar with business intelligence tools (e.g., Power BI, Tableau), data management systems, and modern data architecture, including cloud platforms.
- You are proficiency in SQL, Python, or R for data analysis and visualisation; experience with advanced analytics or machine learning is advantageous.
- You have an active knowledge of English, French and Dutch.
